This Triana Group workshop was held at the Web2.0 Expo (www.web2expo.com/webexny2009/) specifically for technology companies interested in developing a presence in New York City.

It was a great opportunity to meet people in the IT industry that were interested in having a presence in New York. A lot of attendees expressed concerns at the current situation and were wondering if 2010 would be a good year to expand their business in the United States.

To address these concerns, Jabril Bensedrine discussed the opportunities, threats and challenges of a New York City presence and explained how the incubator option was the best solution for companies willing to explore the U.S market. As a one-stop shop for all their needs, the incubator solution perfectly matches small companies’ expectations in terms of flexibility and expertise. Then guest speaker Paul Borgese, Manager at Associated Press Digital Markets, talked about how large potential customers perceive foreign entrants and how to gain local allies and references. The workshop ended with a presentation by Susan Haimet, COO at Dreamface Interactive (www.dreamface-interactive.com), a new Triana Labs member. She talked about her experience as a new member and how Triana has helped her company getting starting in the United States.

It was followed by an informal gathering at Triana Labs office on November 18th. Triana members and friends gathered in our offices and discussed how they successfully launched their branch in the United States. Our friends also got the chance to check out our new offices: nicer and bigger, we are ready to welcome new members!
